RILEY COTE
Former NHL enforcer Riley Cote traded the intensity of the ice for a different kind of rhythm. Through years of mindfulness practice and the study of drumming, Riley discovered the drum as a powerful teacher, a tool for presence, nervous system regulation and human connection. Today, he brings those worlds together through Play The Drum, sharing the simple but profound power of rhythm with individuals, teams and communities.

Pape Demba "PACO"
For Pape Demba “Paco,” rhythm is more than music, it's language, tradition and connection. A West African master drummer and lifelong teacher of the drum, Paco carries generations of rhythmic wisdom into every experience he leads. With joy, patience and a deep respect for the traditions that shaped him, Paco teaches not only how to play, but how to listen, feel and communicate through rhythm and brings the ancient language of the drum into modern life.

Founded by former Philadelphia Flyers enforcer Riley Cote, Play The Drum was born from a simple belief that rhythm has the power to transform lives.
After years of practicing mindfulness, yoga, meditation and drumming, Riley experienced firsthand how rhythm can support focus, nervous system regulation, connection and presence.
An important part of Riley’s journey with the drum has been studying with master drummer Pape Demba “Paco,” whose roots in West African rhythm bring a deep tradition and authenticity to the practice. Riley is grateful to continue learning from Paco and to share the rhythm alongside him.
Together, Riley and Paco bring different backgrounds and experiences to Play The Drum, united by a shared understanding of the drum as a tool for connection, learning and community. For groups looking to experience traditional West African drumming and rhythm instruction, specialized experiences with Paco are also available.
A NOTE FROM RILEY:
"I teach mindfulness through rhythm because the drum is a direct path to the present moment. My goal is to raise spirits and share practical, science-backed ways for people to feel better in their bodies and more connected to their teams. When we play together, we regulate together, finding a collective flow that transcends the noise of daily life."
