Founded by former Philadelphia Flyers enforcer Riley Cote, Play The Drum was born from a simple belief: rhythm has the power to transform lives.

After years of exploring mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and West African drumming, Riley experienced firsthand how rhythm can improve focus, regulate the nervous system, strengthen connection, and bring people into the present moment.

Play The Drum exists to share these benefits with the world through education, community, performance, and meaningful human connection.

A NOTE FROM RILEY:

"I teach mindfulness through rhythm because the drum is a direct path to the present moment. My goal is to raise spirits and share practical, science-backed ways for people to feel better in their bodies and more connected to their teams. When we play together, we regulate together, finding a collective flow that transcends the noise of daily life."

Our Shared Mission

We believe that the djembe is more than just a drum. It is a bridge to community and a tool for personal growth. Together, we are dedicated to bringing the ancient rhythms of West Africa to everyone, regardless of background, creating a space where people can find peace, connection, and a new way to express themselves.

Riley brings an NHL-grade intensity and a deep sense of discipline to the djembe. Formerly an enforcer in the league, he found his true calling in the rhythm of the drum, where he discovered a path to healing and connection that transcends the arena.

Paco is a master of West African rhythms and a dedicated teacher. With years of experience in the heart of Africa, he brings the ancient wisdom of the djembe to the modern world, ensuring that every student feels the soul and history of the music.

Corporate Healing Through Rhythm

We bridge the gap between high-performance culture and deep emotional connection. Our team-building workshops and wellness programs utilize the power of the djembe to foster resilience, communication, and collective harmony in your workplace.
